Dozens of people came out to a Medic Blood Drive at Jacksboro Middle School on Friday in memory of a Campbell County teenager who recently lost her two-year battle with cancer a week ago.
Katelyn Norman, 14, passed away from a rare form of bone cancer, and her condition required frequent blood transfusions. Her cousin, Leona Byrd, said the community's outpouring of love and support has been extremely comforting.
"Everybody is willing to throw in a hand anywhere they need to - just to help our family," said Byrd. "It does mean a lot. They have helped in any possible way that they can."
A small credit from each donation on Friday will go towards helping Katelyn's family pay costs associated with her blood transfusions. The blood drive will last until 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
