Change is coming to a downtown outdoor center that opened to much fanfare nearly one year ago.
In May of last year, the Outdoor Knoxville Adventure Center opened along Volunteer Landing. It has served as a place to rent bikes, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards.
Now, River Sports, the retailer anchoring the rental and shopping is now looking to expand to a bigger space on Market Square.
Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero has long championed the outdoor center and said, "We're glad that River Sports helped kick it off and we expect we continue in a very positive way."
Managers of the outdoor center say they expect to have new rental options in place by the upcoming 2013 Outdoor Knoxfest. That three day festival kicks off in two weeks and features a mix of hiking, biking, paddling and fishing clinics and contests.
