Karns Fire Department is just days away from opening its newest station that will help more residents in Hardin Valley.
The station is a $1.9 million investment that features two engines and a couple volunteer firefighters who will be manning the station around the clock.
Chief Ken Marston says the new station will help cut down on response times and deal with the growing Hardin Valley area.
"This area as it grows is going to need a more defined fire service, a greater amount of call load and call volume in the area. This station was built with the idea that we would build it not only today but for the next 30 to 40 years this building will grow with the community," said Chief Marston.
This Saturday at 10 o'clock, the station will hold an official dedication and open house for the public.
