Orphans in Haiti, still feeling the devastating effects of the 2010 earthquake, will have new beds to sleep on thank to youth here in East Tennessee.
Kids at Sevier Heights Baptist Church hosted a packing celebration on Wednesday. They helped pack a 40-foot container full of beds, mattresses, and sheets for the orphanage One Vision.
The kids raised $25,000 at Vacation Bible School last summer to purchase the beds. They also decorated pillow cases for the orphanage.
"That was the final project that they were doing this year, just decorating pillow cases to send down to Haiti. These kids here have become kind of friends with our children in Haiti and they're hoping to be able to correspond back and forth," said John Miller with One Vision International.
The money raised at VBS will also cover the costs to ship the container to Haiti.
