With more than 150,000 homeless veterans nationwide, many of their deaths may go unnoticed and without the proper burial. But now, one Knoxville veteran won't be forgotten.
As we told you last month, Knoxville-based Berry Funeral Home is taking part in the Dignity Memorial Homeless Veterans Burial Program.
Thursday, the funeral home helped lay Jerry Michael Black to rest. He was 50 years old when he died March 7th, and had no home or immediate family to plan his funeral.
Black received a graveside service with full military honors.
