Mild weekend temperatures provided the perfect setting for the 2nd annual Outdoor KnoxFest Saturday in downtown Knoxville.
The event, which centers around Volunteer Landing, looks to introduce locals to everything Knoxville has to offer outdoors. Participants can learn everything from kayaking and canoeing to how to properly fly-fish.
Legacy Park Executive Director Carol Evans said the event helps fuel the community's growing interest in outdoor recreational activities.
"This has really come about in the last two to three years," Evans said.
One of the festival's registration tables said it was likely that more than 400 people showed up to the the Saturday leg of the festival.
Outdoor KnoxFest continues into Sunday. South Knoxville resident Karyn Adams said she was happy to have participated in the event with her sons.
"Festivals like this one really are one of the things that help people understand all of the opportunities that are out there [in Knoxville]."
