Update 9:05 a.m.

A 28-year-old Knoxville man was shot while he was sitting on a couch in a north Knoxville home early Monday morning.

A witness told police she was sitting on her front porch on the 1000 block of Oglewood Avenue smoking a cigarette when a suspect asked her for a lighter.  The witness, 24-year-old Jazzuri Rouse, said the suspect then asked her if there was anyone inside the house.  When she replied there was, the suspect kicked down the door and shot La Chandler, 28-years-old, while he was sitting on the couch.

Rouse was on the way to the hospital with Chandler, when they flagged KPD officers on Broadway at Cecil.

Rouse had been shot at least twice.  He was taken by ambulance to UT Medical Center.

Police are looking for a suspect described as a skinny black male, 5'01", wearing all black.  He had a black handgun. The suspect fled on foot.

Police believe Chandler and the unnamed suspect knew each other.
