UT students are donating their leftover Dining Dollars to help those who are hungry.
All students living on campus have a meal plan and get Dining Dollars to spend on campus. The dollars do not roll over from the spring to fall semester.
Instead of letting the dollars go to waste, one UT sophomore came up with the idea to use excess Dining Dollars to buy food for Second Harvest Food Bank. He and other volunteers held a donation drive on Monday.
It's something he hopes will continue each year on campus to help Second Harvest.
"I definitely look forward to working with them over the next few years. Especially solving like the long-term hunger crisis right now, not just the short-term," said Fadi Saleh.
Next year, he hopes to work with Campus Dining to have UT directly donate leftover Dining Dollars to charity.
