Three men were charged after a gambling raid Monday night in Oak Ridge.

According to Chief James T. Akagi, the Criminal Investigations Division and Special Projects Unit executed a search warrant at 901 Oak Ridge Turnpike around 9:00 pm, after an investigation into illegal gambling.

Chief Akagi could not go into many details about the case because it is ongoing, but said people would go inside the operation and gamble at least twice a week.

"Approximately, seven players in each table with a dealer. We saw obvious evidence of illegal activity -- cards, poker chips, and we seized a little over $6,000 from individuals," said Chief Akagi.

Scott William Stockstill of Clinton was charged with Aggravated Promotion of Gambling.  Jeffery Ray Smith of Kingston and William Harold Bailey of Clinton were cited on misdemeanor charges of Promotion of Gambling.

The investigation and subsequent raid came after several complaints about an illegal gambling operation.
