Union County authorities now say an assault in a Union County home was not a home invasion.

The suspect, Matthew Blackburn, was arrested on Friday.  Investigators now believe Blackburn was already in the home talking to the homeowner when the assault occurred.  They are not sure yet how well the suspect and victim knew each other.

A Union County man wanted for breaking into a home and assaulting the homeowner is now in custody.

According to Sgt. Mike Butcher with the Union County Sheriff's Department, Matthew Blackburn was spotted in East Knoxville Friday afternoon.

Union County was working with Knoxville Police and the U.S. Marshall Service on a search of that area when a detective saw a red truck that matched the description of the vehicle that was stolen from the residence.  They then saw Blackburn walking towards the truck, and arrested him before he was able to get in and drive off.

He was taken into custody without incident on outstanding warrants for aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, and vandalism relating to the home invasion.
