The State of Tennessee paid tribute Friday to three soldiers killed in action.

Governor Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam joined Veterans Affairs in honoring Sergeant Jacob Schwallie from Clarksville and Private First Class Glenn Schoenmann, a prisoner of war who reportedly died in December of 1950. Tennessee also honored Staff Sergeant Chris Ward, who lived in Oak Ridge shortly before joining the military.

Governor Haslam said each man personified what it is to be an American.
