No charges expected in accident that killed teen bicyclist

No charges are expected in an accident that killed a teenage boy on a bicycle.

According to Knoxville Police, Franklin Brown, 14, of Knoxville, was riding his bicycle on Sullivan Road on Friday afternoon.  He turned on to Western Avenue, and when he tried to cross the street, he rode into the path of a Ryder rental truck and was hit.

Brown died after he was taken to UT Medical Center.  He was not wearing a helmet.

A child bicyclist who was struck by a truck on Western Avenue on Friday has died, police have confirmed.

Officials say the child was in critical condition when they arrived, and he was pronounced dead at the UT Medical Center.

Police have not yet released the victim's name.

An investigation is ongoing.

Emergency crews are still investigating after a child on a bicycle was hit by a truck Friday afternoon on Western Avenue.

The accident was reported just after 4:30 pm, on Western at Sullivan Road, right in front of the Third Creek Baptist Church.

Officials say the child was hit by a Ryder truck traveling east.  There's no word on the child's condition.

Western Avenue is down to one lane as of 6:20 pm, and traffic is backed up.
