A storm caused significant damage to power lines near an LCUB substation Monday evening, leaving thousands of customers in the dark.
A tree fell onto a power pole, causing a "major outage," according to LCUB General Manager Shannon Littleton.
He estimated the damage left around 8,000 residents and businesses in West Knox County without electricity.
Businesses near Middlebrook Pike and Cedar Bluff Rd. were in the dark, including Kroger, Walgreens and Aubrey's restaurant.
They all had power restored by 10:00 p.m., and Littleton said the majority of customers who had lost power should have it back by then.
He said some would remain without electricity for several hours.
LCUB said it will have crews working all night to fix those lines.
