(WBIR-Oak Ridge) The Oak Ridge Fire Department confirmed a strong storm passed through Oak Ridge Monday night at about 7:00 p.m.
Firefighters responded to many alarms caused by the storm, nobody was injured.
Just before the city council meeting began, lightning hit near the municipal building and knocked power out for several seconds.
Falling trees struck two homes. One of those residences was an on-duty firefighter's home. He was working at the station when it was reported a tree fell on his house, which caused several thousand dollars worth of damage, displacing his family until repairs can be made.
In another incident, a woman called 911, saying she though she had been struck by lightning. When firefighters arrived at her home, they found her in the living room complaining of chest pain. She reported that she was looking out the window when lightning hit in front her and then she started experiencing chest pain.
Crews transported her to the hospital for evaluation.
