(WBIR-Knoxville) Investigators are still working to determine how a man died as he was launching a personal watercraft into Fort Loudoun Lake on Tuesday.

According to TWRA, Jacob Thompson, 39, of Knoxville, was at the boat launch at Carl Cowan Park in West Knoxville.  He suffered "some type of distress" and went into the water.

Witnesses said they heard a "pop" before Thompson went into the water.  Investigators say it does not appear to be an electrocution, but they are still looking into it.

Thompson was transported to UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.  An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.
