(WBIR-Knoxville) Knoxville police identified the victim of a fatal crash in northwest Knoxville early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to a single-vehicle car crash on the intersection of Western Avenue and Tennessee Avenue.
Police said the 1996 Dodge Caravan was traveling on Western Avenue when it left the roadway and struck a building at 2507 Western Avenue. Officials pronounced Charanissa L. Humphrey, 33, of Knoxville dead on the scene.
Authorities said Humphrey was not wearing a seatbelt, and Knoxville firefighters had to pull the body from the vehicle. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. Officials took a blood sample from the victim for analysis.
