Police search for Bearden-area shooting suspect

(WBIR-Knoxville) Police are searching for a suspect accused of shooting outside a Bearden-area club on Chambliss Avenue early Saturday morning.

Witness told authorities that several people inside the La Rumba where taking turns rapping when a fight broke out between several people. A few minutes later, the suspect began shooting outside the club and fled the scene in a dark colored vehicle shortly after 2:00 a.m.

Carlos Humberto Porras,40, of Knoxville and Torie Lavon Brown, 24, were shot in their legs. Crews transported them to UT Medical Center, and officials said they'll be okay.

Knoxville police said the suspect is about 5'10" tall and weighs 160 pounds. Witness said he had long hair with dreadlocks.

(WBIR-Knoxville) A shooting at a Bearden area restaurant and bar sent two people to the hospital early Saturday morning.


Officers responded to a shots fired call at La Rumba on 4900 Chambliss Avenue shortly after 2:00 a.m.


When they arrived, they found two men with gun shot wounds. According to Knoxville dispatchers, one victim was shot in the hip, and the second victim was shot in the knee.


Crews drove both men to UT Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.


Officials aren't releasing the victims' names and said the investigation remains ongoing.
