(WBIR - Knoxville) Members of an East Tennessee church are headed to Oklahoma this week, one month after a devastating tornado ripped through the communities surrounding Oklahoma City.
Approximately 25 people from Overcoming Believers Church in East Knoxville will be providing the relief to Moore, Oklahoma.
"The Lord really spoke to me concerning the mission trip about two days after the tornado," said Senior Pastor Daryl Arnold. "Sometimes we don't know how good we have it until somebody else experiences a loss."
Ahead of their depature Sunday afternoon, church members told 10News how the tornados devastation inspired them to help.
"So many times we see the stories and then we go on with our lives and those who have been affected the most are still having to deal with the cleanup and deal with all of the things that come after that," said Nicole Chandler.
Evan Butcher added, "I just want to take some of Jesus' love to them and say 'We're with you and we're here for you. We want to love on you too'."
Church members departed from Knoxville late Sunday afternoon. They plan to stop in Memphis for a short stay before arriving in Oklahoma early this week.
