FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - The garrison commander of Fort Campbell says civilian employees will be cut to four day work weeks starting in July as part of a furlough program enacted because of budget cuts.

Col. David Dellinger says school employees on the post will have it differently - they will be required to take five furlough days between August and September.

The furloughs will remain in effect until Sept. 30, which is the end of the budget year for the military. Dellinger told the "Kentucky New Era" that having people forced to miss work is unfortunate and "obviously not desired." More than 3,000 civilian employees at the sprawling military post on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line received notices last month about the furloughs.
