An East Tennessee victim of violence is pushing for gun control laws at a rally in Nashville Wednesday.
Tammy Sommers lived through a shooting five years ago at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. Two people died when a gunman barged into the sanctuary and opened fire. Sommers and several other people were hurt.
Now Sommers is a public advocate for more responsible ownership laws and more extensive and enforceable background checks.
According to USA Today, there have been 146 mass-shootings with 900 victims since 2007. The FBI defines as a mass-shooting an incident where four or more people are killed.
