Local teachers are getting their hands on some new technology tools for the classroom.
Principals and teachers from the 11 Knox County schools selected for the new technology challenge got to pick up their laptops. Teachers and staff also took a break from summer vacation to get more training on high-tech classroom options.
It's all part of the district's program that plans to give every student and staff at selected schools some form of learning device.
"I'm excited to see my teachers. I've been receiving tweets and text messages and e-mails from them talking about their device and how excited they are. So just the enthusiasm I see in my teachers right now is exciting as well," said South Doyle Principal Tim Berry.
Students at the selected schools will have to wait until early next school year to get their new tech devices.
