(WBIR- Knoxville) A long-time Old City business is closing its doors after more than a century of service.
Lay's Market opened in Downtown Knoxville in 1907. They changed locations over the years, but the Lay family continued to serve meat and cheese to Knoxville until Monday.
On their door, the family posted a message that says, "In today's world, it's difficult for mom and pop businesses... can't compete with big companies."
The family says it couldn't survive over the past year even with dramatic cut backs. The family also added it was not an easy decision to make and they appreciate the 106 years of business from Knoxville customers.
