The three car accident happened just after 7:00 am on Alcoa Highway just north of Ginn Road.

Investigators say Jonathon Brackens, 34, was driving a Ford pickup truck north on Alcoa Highway when he rear ended a BMW.  The truck then traveled across the median and hit the trailer of a semi-truck that was carrying liquid concrete.   The impact caused the trailer to flip over on its side.

Brackens was ejected from his vehicle.  He was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.  The woman driving the BMW was not hurt.  The semi-truck driver was taken tot the hospital by a personal vehicle to be treated for minor injuries.

All lanes of southbound Alcoa Highway were closed for the investigation and cleanup of the crash site. At approximately 9:20 a.m., both southbound lanes were reopened.
