(WBIR) TVA says it's trying to move one million gallons of water per second in some places because of the heavy rainfall.
It's spilling or releasing water from 10 of its 20 tributary dams and all nine main channel dams along the Tennessee River. The spilling should last one to two weeks.
The movement of all the water could flood some of the crops near the banks of the river in Northern Alabama and West Tennessee by as much as eight feet.
The Tennessee River watershed averages 51 inches a year, but is already up to 40 inches so far in 2013.
