(WBIR-Knoxville) The Vols new head coach will experience his first SEC Media Days on Wednesday in Hoover, Alabama. Tuesday, he faced a friendlier crowd, speaking to a gathering of Knox County Rotary Clubs at the Crown Plaza in downtown Knoxville.
Butch Jones signed autographs, took pictures, and broke a little news that excited the Big Orange fans.
He says he is working on having an open practice in August, that will be open to all Vol fans. He says the plans aren't definite yet, but he wants to see how his team reacts under the lights on a Saturday night in Neyland Stadium.
"As their football coach, I've never seen them live. I saw them one time in front of fans at the Spring game, now we're playing for real. I want to treat it as a pre-season game. I want people in the stand. I want them in pressure situations. I want the kickers in pressure situations. It's also an opportunity to give back to our fans," said Jones.
Kris Budden is at SEC Media Days, and will let us know how Jones and the UT players did, on Wednesday.
