The body of a man was discovered under two to three feet of water in a popular LaFollette neighborhood creek Thursday afternoon.
LaFollette police have identified the deceased as 40-year-old Steve A. Phillips of Caryville.
The creek is located near East Woodland Court.
Police say people often fish and swim in the waters.
The body was discovered shortly after 4:00 p.m. A LaFollette PD spokeman says they believe it had not been there long.
An autopsy is being performed Thursday at the Univeristy of Tennessee.
Police say they are still piecing together how Phillips died.
