In suburban Memphis, rescuers saved a mother and her newborn after they were stranded in rising waters.

The mother said she thought she could navigate her Chevy Impala through a flooded road in Raleigh, Tennessee. Her car stalled out in waist-deep water.

Workers at a nearby cosmetology school rushed to her aid, waiting by her side and comforting her until rescuers arrived.

"Me and a couple of other students and our director noticed a car seat in the back, so we dialed for the fire department in here. We didn't know she was also on the phone with the fire department," said Celeste Ousley, a salon student.

The fire department was able to rescue mom and baby.

As a reminder, if you find yourself at a flooded street, turn around, don't drown.
