(WBIR) Pilot CEO Jimmy Haslam will have a lot on his plate Thursday.

As Haslam watches his NFL team, the Cleveland Browns, take the field for their first practice of the season, attorneys for his company Pilot Flying J will be in court.

Haslam bought the Cleveland Browns for more than one billion dollars last year, just a few months before federal authorities raided Pilot Flying J. That raid happened in April and was centered on a rebate fraud scheme.

Since then, nearly two dozen trucking companies who claim Pilot Flying J ripped them off have filed lawsuits against the company.

Both Pilot Flying J, and the trucking companies that claim to be victims of the rebate scam, will meet in a Maine court tomorrow to discuss whether to a condense about a dozen active civil cases against Haslam's company into one single suit.

The Tennessean: Both sides seek consolidation of Pilot rebate suits

According to 10News' partners at The Tennessean, lawyers for an Ohio trucking company argued for the move because it would be more convenient for all of the parties involved. They also said consolidation would cut down on the potential for inconsistent rulings from case to case.

Pilot Flying J also told the Tennessean, that all of the suits were near "exact reproductions of the same allegations".

The company had previously asked that all individual cases be put on hold until a judge's decision in this hearing tomorrow.

This all comes before the Browns take the field Thursday, but, a team official told 10News' Cleveland affiliate, WKYC, it's business as usual for the organization.

"We're operating this team exactly as we would, whether this had happened or not," said Cleveland Brown's CEO Joe Banner. "Jimmy's here and incredibly supportive and a huge asset to us and I think he's made it clear, and I've tried to make it clear without any ambiguity at all, he's not going to sell the team."
