(WBIR, Knoxville) - Around 250 players participated in Mission of Hope's annual golf tournament Friday.
There were two separate rounds in the Chik Fil A Golf Classic. One in the morning, and the other in the afternoon.
The money raised from the tournament goes to help Mission of Hope buy school supplies for children in Appalachia.
Director Emmette Thompson says the number of schools they serve increases every year, and this tournament is a big reason why they are able to keep growing the ministry.
"Without our Chik Fil A Golf Classic I don't know what we would do to raise the money we so desperately need now to buy ever growing supplies of school supplies and backpacks each year. We are honored to be the recipients of the proceeds for this event," said Thompson.
Each year Mission of Hope gives away school supplies to more than 10,000 children in Appalachia.
