Hundreds of people are receiving written notifications that the source of their water has tested positive for a certain kind of bacteria. The Roane Central Utility District is sending these letters out to its more than 1,700 customers in Roane County.
The utility says a series of routine tests show traces of what's called coliform bacteria.
The utility's general manager stresses to 10News only two samples tested positive for the bacteria, and follow-up testing shows the bacteria was limited to only two customers. He also stresses no one is in danger and says the problem has already been resolved.
TDEC requires the utility to send out the letters.
Coliform bacteria is commonly found in water, and in extreme cases can cause stomach problems in humans.
