Tennessee Smokies infielder Justin Bour was named by the Southern League as its "Hitter of the Week," for the week of July 30-August 5.  The award is Bour's first of the season.

Bour paced the Smokies offence last week with a .409 average (9-for-22), belting three home runs and driving in nine.  He first home run of the week came in walk-off fashion in Tennessee's 1-0 win over Pensacola.  His second and third home runs have come in the team's current five-game series with the Jackson Generals.  Bour ended the week with three straight multi-hit games against the Generals.

2012 is turning into a career season for Bour.  The Southern League All-Star leads all active Smokies in most offensive categories including hits (123), doubles (30), home runs (14), RBIs (92), total bases (195) and slugging percentage (.481).  He ranks first in the Southern League in RBIs, second in hits and doubles, third in hitting (.304) and fifth in slugging percentage.

The Centreville, Va. native was drafted by the Cubs in the 25th round of the 2009 MLB Draft out of George Mason University.
