Sex crimes detectives have joined forces with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in an investigation connected to the suspension of four Vanderbilt University football players on Friday.
Few details surrounding the investigation have emerged, but police have confirmed that sex crimes detectives began investigating an alleged incident in a Vanderbilt dorm on Wednesday.
The four unidentified football players were kicked off the team and banned from campus on Saturday.
No arrests have been made, police said Monday afternoon.
"Decisions in regard to charges will be made at the appropriate time as warranted by the investigation, which is expected to remain open and active into the near future," police said in a statement.
Evidence has been collected for examination by police investigators as well as by scientists at the TBI crime laboratory, the statement read.
The district attorney's office is consulting with police.
