(WBIR-Kodak) The Montgomery Biscuits came up short against the Tennessee Smokies Thursday night losing by one score.
According to a press release from the hometown minor league team, the boys made the late-innings count by scoring five out of their nine runs late in the game.
Tennessee started out well when Matt Szczur hit a homer on Victor Mateo's first pitch. Arismedny Alcantara soon turned his single into a score with help from a Justin Bour groundout to bring the score to 2-0.
The Biscuits came back in the third inning when Smokies starter Eduardo Figueroa gave up four runs making the score 2-4.
A run in the fifth widened the Biscuit's lead. But it was short-lived as Rafael Lopez and Szczur of the Smokies scored on a Biscuit error.
The Smokies rotated through pitchers.
The eight inning was outstanding for the Smokies with scores from Szczur, Bour, Andreoli, and Silva.
Baez won the game with a run in the eigth inning making the score 9-6.
The Smokies' relief pitcher gave up two runs. But he sealed the deal by making a double play and a strikeout.
