Maui, HI (Sports Network) - Kemba Walker poured in 29 points and Connecticut
completed its improbable run through the Maui Invitational by beating eighth-
ranked Kentucky, 84-67, in the championship game.
Alex Oriakhi added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Huskies (5-0), who beat
Wichita State on Monday before knocking off second-ranked Michigan State on
Tuesday. Niels Giffey had 14 points and Shabazz Napier 12 for UConn, which
shot a sizzling 58.8 percent (30-of-51) from the field.
Terrence Jones had 24 points and Darius Miller 15 for the Wildcats (4-1), who
were in the championship game in Maui for the first time since 1993.
It was a spectacular tournament for Walker, who had scored at least 30 in each
of his previous three games. He helped the Huskies win the tournament for the
second time, as UConn beat Gonzaga in the 2005 title contest.
