NCAA Game Summary - Northern Colorado at Portland State

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Tate Unruh scored 23 points to lead the Northern Colorado Bears to an 85-75 decision over the Portland State Vikings in a Big Sky Conference bout at the Stott Center.

Derrick Barden added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Bears (11-17, 9-10 Big Sky), who earned their second-straight win. Tevin Svihovec chipped in 10 points and six boards.

Aaron Moore came off the bench to lead Portland State (8-18, 5-13) with 20 points. Michael Harthun and Dre Winston produced 18 and 13 points, respectively, while Lateef McMullan tallied 11 points and six assists. The Vikings have now lost twice in a row after notching three consecutive victories.

The first half was closely contested as Portland State hit on 46.4 percent of its field goal attempts including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc and the Bears shot an even 50 percent from the floor with four makes from 3-point range. Thanks to a 16-11 edge in rebounds, Northern Colorado attempts two more field goals and took a 44-41 lead into the intermission.

The Vikings stayed consistent to shoot 46.4 percent from the field once again in the second stanza, but the Bears heated up to hit on 56.7 percent of their field goal tries. Unruh knocked down three shots from beyond the arc in the second half to help Northern Colorado run off to the 10-point win.

Northern Colorado outscored the Vikings, 30-21, from 3-point range and also, 16-10, in points off of turnovers.
