Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Joe Rahon led the way with 15 points,
including the game-winning 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining, to lift the
Boston College Eagles to a thrilling 53-52 win over the Virginia Cavaliers in
Atlantic Coast Conference action at Conte Forum.
Olivier Hanlan contributed 13 points for Boston College (13-16, 5-11 ACC),
which snapped a two-game losing skid. Ryan Anderson logged eight points and
nine boards for the hosts.
Akil Mitchell led all players with 16 points to go along with eight rebounds
for Virginia (20-9, 10-6), which experienced a letdown following its win over
Duke on Feb. 28. Joe Harris added 14 points for the Cavaliers.
Virginia jumped out to an 11-3 lead less than eight minutes into the game, but
Boston College brought its deficit to just one, 25-24, heading into halftime.
The Cavaliers opened the second half hot as well, ripping off an 18-8 run to
bring their lead to 11 midway through the stanza, but the Eagles would not go
quietly, gradually chipping away at the lead until Rahon drilled the game-
winner in the final minute. Virginia was left with one last possession to try
and win the game, but it turned the ball over and Boston College came out the
