Stanford, CA (Sports Network) - Chasson Randle tallied 22 points and six
assists as the Stanford Cardinal closed out their home schedule in style with
a 84-66 triumph over the Utah Utes in a Pac-12 Conference tilt at Maples
Dwight Powell added 15 points and eight rebounds for Stanford (17-13, 8-9
Pac-12), which had lost four of its previous five bouts. Gabriel Harris and
John Gage chipped in 14 and 11 points, respectively.
For Utah (11-17, 3-13), Jarred DuBois scored 22 points, Jordan Loveridge
netted 11 points and Jason Washburn had 10 points. The Utes are now losers of
four straight contests.
Stanford opened up a comfortable 44-31 halftime lead by shooting 53.3 percent
from the floor in the opening stanza, including 7-of-14 from 3-point range.
Utah shot a modest 43.3 percent in the first 20 minutes.
The Utes came out of the break firing, ripping off an 11-2 run to bring their
deficit to just four early in the frame, but they would get no closer as the
Cardinal pulled away by as many as 22.
Both Stanford (15-of-16) and Utah (13-of-14) put together impressive showings
from the free-throw line.
