Morgantown, WV (Sports Network) - Former Houston running back Charles Sims
will transfer to West Virginia, according to reports.
Fox 26 of Houston reported that the former Cougar standout, who led the team
in rushing last season, visited Morgantown on Thursday and decided to play his
final year of eligibility with the Mountaineers.
Sims, who has already obtained his degree and will be a graduate student,
announced he was leaving Houston earlier this spring after considering to
enter the NFL Draft. He rushed for a team-high 851 yards and scored 14 total
touchdowns while averaging 6.0 yards per carry last fall, despite missing
three games due to injury.
WVU, which lost three offensive juggernauts to April's NFL draft in
quarterback Geno Smith and receivers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey, also
added transfer quarterback Clint Trickett from Florida State this spring.
