Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Seven years later, Danny Briere has decided to
join the Montreal Canadiens.
The veteran forward signed a two-year contract with the team on Thursday.
Briere, 35, became a free agent when Philadelphia opted to buy out the
remaining two years on his eight-year, $52 million deal following the Stanley
The Quebec native drew the ire of Montreal fans when he rebuffed an offer from
the Canadiens, who were aggressively courting him as an unrestricted free
agent in the summer of 2007 before he signed with the Flyers.
Briere has registered 286 goals and 373 assists in 847 career regular-season
games with Phoenix, Buffalo and Philadelphia, and is well-known for his
