A Knoxville sports agency says it signed Tyler Smith as a client over the weekend--and they're already fielding inquiries from the NBA and overseas.

Jared Karnes of the A3 sports agency is expected to release a statement shortly.

A3 sports agent Jared Karnes told 10News "We're trying to help him look at all the opportunities that might be available."

Smith was recently removed from the Vols basketball team over his arrest on New Year's Day in a traffic stop incident involving handguns and marijuana.

Even without Smith, the Vols rallied to defeat #1 Kansas on Sunday after rolling over Charlotte on Wednesday.

A bit later in the day, Karnes released a statement on his client's past and prospects:

"A recent decision by Tyler Smith cannot be undone. Rather than focusing his energy on a mistake in his past, Tyler is choosing to begin writing a new positive chapter in his life.

Tyler also recognizes that forgiveness is not easy. He is deeply grateful for those in this community who have chosen to support and forgive. I am very proud to be representing him."
